A young angler has been selected to fish for England for a third year.

Jack Blakey, 13, who lives near Northallerton and attends Richmond School, is a member of the England Youth Fly Fishing Team,

Last week, he found out that he has been selected from 21 boys and girls to represent England for a third time.

Jack said: ” The England youth flyfishing team is from the age 12 to 17. I was brought in a year early in my first year.

“I’ve qualified for the England youth fly fishing team for the third year running.

“I started fly fishing at the age of 5 and I caught my first fish at Grassholme Reservoir.”

Jack is sponsored by Flash Attack Flies, which is run by Craig Barr, who is also one of the team managers.

Jack added: “My dad and I go fishing most Sundays — there’s no better feeling than the line going tight and the rod bending.

“I’m so proud to be fishing for my country again this year.

“So far I’ve fished an international in Ireland, Wales and this year in England at the great venue Grafham Water.”
