Woman killed in A19 collision named by police

A woman who died following a fatal collision last week hs been named by police.

38-year-old Elizabeth Cross, from Easingwold, died in a collision at about 1.15pm on Tuesday, June 11 on the A19 near Birdforth, north of Easingwold.

Her family said in a statement: “Our beautiful, quirky daughter, Lizzie, taken from us far too soon.”

The collision involved a blue Skoda Enyaq and a red Vauxhall Corsa.

Emergency services attended but Elizabeth was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Skoda, a woman in her 40s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving

She has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Our thoughts are with her loved ones at this incredibly sad time.

“Our investigation remains ongoing as we work to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.”
