Wensleydale Railway has announced the introduction of the Wensleydale Fryer — its new lunchtime fish and chips dining train.
This service will begin on Saturday, April 22 with the heritage diesel-hauled train travelling from Leeming Bar to Leyburn.
Nick Keegan, Wensleydale Railway fundraising and marketing manager, said passengers would be able to experience a scenic journey through the Yorkshire Dales while enjoying fish and chips, mushy peas, bread and butter and unlimited tea or coffee served at their table.
“You will be seated in an open coach at your own table, set for one to four people, and if your party is larger, two tables each side of the centre aisle.
“The railway’s volunteer staff will serve your food and drink as you sit back and relax. A bar service will also be available.
“On arrival at Leyburn, you will have time for a short comfort break and to stretch your legs before boarding the train for the return journey to Leeming Bar.”
The train will depart Leeming Bar at 1.30pm and the journey lasts around two hours.
In addition to fish and chips, there will also be the option of sausage and chips and gluten free fish and chips.
The cost is £30 per adult and £12 for children and includes the rail ticket.
