Wensleydale Railway seeks pop-up cafe volunteers

The Wensleydale Railway is looking for volunteers to help out at a new pop-up cafe.

The Wensleydale Railway reopened in May following 14 months of closure due to the pandemic.

A new service between Bedale, Leeming Bar and Scruton stations where visitors could step back in time and enjoy a living museum experience was launched.

To further improve the experience of visitors a group of volunteers transformed the historic signal box at Scruton station from storage space into a pop-up café named Percy’s refreshment room after the former piggery at the station.

Rachael Roberts, marketing officer, said: “Percy’s has proved so popular that we are now looking for additional volunteers to help staff it.

“This is a great opportunity for people to get involved with the railway, meet new people and volunteer alongside a large, friendly team who share a passion for not just railways but also heritage in general”.

If you are interested in volunteering in Percy’s refreshment room, please contact Connor Lagus, volunteer co-ordinator on 01677 425805 or by email at volunteercoordinator@wensleydalerailway.com
