Wensleydale Railway has announced that Black Five steam locomotive No. 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier has returned to Leeming Bar.
The locomotive is the star of the railway’s Christmas event, The Polar Express Train Ride, which will transport 60,000 passengers on an interactive journey to the North Pole from November 10 to December 23.
In between Christmas and New Year, the railway will be operating two days of steam services between Leeming Bar and Leyburn on December 29 and 30, and a one-day diesel service on December 28.
The Black Five locomotive will operate the steam service on December 29 and 30 , and trains will depart Leeming Bar for Leyburn on both days at 11am and 1.45pm.
Visiting heritage diesel locomotive (class 47, number 47701) and coaching stock will be operating three trains on December 28 and trains will depart Leeming Bar for Leyburn at 10am, 12pm and 2.30pm.
For customers travelling by car, please note that there is no car parking available at Leeming Bar Station or on the street outside.
There is, however, parking available at the former Vale of Mowbray factory overflow carpark, situated immediately behind the factory site at Low Street, off Leases Road. Alternatively, you can board the trains at Bedale Station (DL8 1AW) where there is ample parking in the town.
Return tickets, if booked online, cost £20 for adults, £18 for seniors and only £1 for children (aged 3-15). Booking is advised to avoid disappointment. All tickets are Rovers, so cover travel on any service from any station on the day.
