A wasps nest prompted concerns about a house fire early this morning.
Firefighters were called to the incident in Moor End Lane, Sowerby, at about 3.30am.
Crews from Northallerton and Thirsk responded to reports of a smoke alarm sounding, with a hot area found on the ceiling which was making a crackling noise.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “This was a false alarm with good intent caused by a wasps nest.”
