Views wanted on proposed Stokesley business parks transport service

Customers and staff of businesses based on two Stokesley business parks are being asked to take part in a transport survey.

Hambleton District Council wants to establish if a dedicated service from the town centre to the Stokesley Business Park and the Terry Dickens Industrial Estate would be used.

Currently there is no such service with people using their own means to get there – including walking on inadequate footpaths.

Officials say it can be difficult during the dark winter months for both employees and customers who do not have their own transport.

Staff and customers of the businesses are being asked how they get to the parks now and if they would use a dedicated service – such as buses or taxis.

“Businesses are telling us they struggle to get staff as a result of the lack of public transport to the estates,” said council leader, Councillor Mark Robson.

“Buses can get them to Stokesley town centre and then they have to find their way to the park.

“And they have customers relying on friends or family to bring them for appointments.”

The survey closes on 21 September 2020.
