Police have issued an urgent appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage of a car involved in a serious collision in Northallerton.
a collision occurred on the High Street involving a black Ford Fiesta and a pedestrian at about 8.15pm on Tuesday.
The Fiesta did not stop at the scene.
The pedestrian, 78, remains in a critical condition in hospital.
A police spokesperson said: “Anyone who was driving in the area around the time may have captured important dashcam footage, and officers are asking all motorists to review their dashcam systems as a matter of urgency.
“The Fiesta suffered significant damage to its windscreen in the collision.
“If you have footage of the black Ford Fiesta – either prior to the collision, or after the collision, in which it suffered the windscreen damage – please get in touch straight away.”
Please also contact the police if you remember seeing the collision or the vehicle involved, and have not yet spoken to officers.
Two men were arrested nearby. They have since been released.
Two suspects, a man and a woman, both aged 32, have been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and other offences. They remain in custody at this time.
