Two men have been arrested on suspicion of attempting to steal from a lorry parked up in North Yorkshire.
Police received a call at about 3.40am today reporting suspicious activity in the Leeming Bar area.
Officers attended and located a lorry that had been broken into.
The suspects had left the scene after being confronted by staff.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “Enquiries began immediately, and within an hour, officers stopped a black Audi car on the M1 heading towards Leeds.
“The vehicle was searched, and a quantity of cannabis recovered.”
Both occupants were arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply, and theft from a vehicle.
Six HGVs had received damage to their curtain sides, and inventory had been removed from a seventh.
However, items of property were located nearby, and it is believed that all missing stock was recovered.
The two men, both in their 20s, were taken into custody, where they remain at this time.
