Trains stopped after person falls on embankment

Trains were stopped near Northallerton today after a person fell on a grass embankment.

The incident happened at about 2pm.

Ambulance crews and firefighters were called to the scene.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “A crew from Bedale assisted ambulance with the difficult extrication of a patient who had fallen on a grass embankment near the railway lines.

“All trains in use were confirmed to have been stopped and not in operation at the time of the incident.

“Crews proceeded to rescue the casualty and carry them to the awaiting ambulance stood by on the road.”

The casualty received treatment from ambulance crews.
