Residents living close to Thirsk town centre are being asked if they would use electric charging points for their cars – if points were installed in the market place.
Close to 600 homes are being targeted to complete a survey to help the district council demonstrate what the level of demand is for these points.
The council especially wants to hear from people whose homes have no off street parking and where home charging is therefore not possible.
Council officers are looking to apply for Office for Low Emission Vehicles funding to install these points in the town centre – but part of the application has to demonstrate need.
“There are a good number of residents in Thirsk that have no off street parking or who live in flats in and around the town centre which gives them no means of installing charge points at home,” said cabinet spokesperson, Councillor Isobel Sanderson.
“We want to know if they were available in the market place if they would use them – and if that would make them consider buying an electric car in the future.”
The survey is available on line at www.hambleton.gov.uk/survey/car and from Thirsk and Sowerby Leisure Centre and Thirsk Library.
It must be returned by November 10.
