Thirsk man jailed for assaulting woman

York Magistrates' Court.

A Thirsk man has been jailed for twice assaulting a woman.

Wayne Thomas Johnson, 32, appeared before magistrates at York yesterday charged with two counts of assault.

The 32-year-old from School Garth, Thirsk, was jailed for five months for the attacks which took place in Thirsk on November 18 last year.

Johnson pleaded guilty to the offences, which the court was told happened when he was drunk.

As well as the prison sentence, Johnson was ordered to pay £100 costs and a £122 victim surcharge.
