Thirsk-based charity receives royal recognition

North Yorkshire Youth (NYY), a children and young people’s charity based at Carlton Lodge Activity Centre near Thirsk, North Yorkshire has won a 2018 Duke of York Community Initiative Award.

HRH The Duke of York presented the Award at a ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, at Catterick.

David Sharp, chief executive said: “This is excellent news and recognition for our team here at Carlton Lodge who work every day to make the lives of young people better.

“We really enjoyed meeting the Duke of York at the prestigious awards ceremony.”

The organisation will be allowed to include the Award credentials in its marketing and communications.

NYY’s mission remains the same as that of its founders in 1941 – ‘to provide continuing learning and personal development opportunities for children and young people’.
