Thieves try to rob Northallerton ice cream shop

The owners of a Northallerton ice cream shop have issued an appeal for information after three drunken thieves attempted to rob the business yesterday.

The inside happened at the Dolcie Dessert Emporium in Zerland Street at about 7pm.

Two of the men entered the shop swearing at staff and demanding they give them all of the “f**king money”.

A third man was seen outside keeping watch.

Owner Leshon Wallis said in a post on social media: “They began waving bags containing who knows what in my face and threatening to shoot if they didn’t get anything.

“All three men were white, just incredibly scruffy and stunk of dirty clothes, one of them having distinctive tattoos on his hands.

“The third man can be seen wearing a cap with tags still on, perhaps stolen so this was their intentions of the evening.

“They also smelled heavily of alcohol and were aggressive.”

Leshon added: “Luckily, I stood my ground and gave them nothing, but sadly they stole the tip jar full of tips that our girls have worked hard collecting over these past few summer weeks and took tray bakes and plates outside and smashed them on the pavement.

“We hope this was just an opportunistic incident on the off chance as we are a family business run by ourselves and a few young women that was open on a Sunday evening and they were trying their luck.

“Any help identifying these men will much appreciated.”

North Yorkshire Police are understood to be at the scene today to investigate.

Anyone with information can call the force on 101 quoting reference 12240140183.
