A kind-hearted Openreach team has helped bring festive smiles to the faces of children at a Northallerton hospital.

Members of the team, who cover the Harrogate and Northallerton area, collected and donated 42 presents and selection boxes for the kids at the children’s hub at Friarage Hospital.

Some even spent their own Christmas vouchers on buying presents for the kids.

It’s not the first time they’ve helped the hub – earlier this year they donated around 60 Easter eggs.

Patch manager Scott Day, who organised the collection, said: “It’s about paying back to our local community. Some of the team have had their kids treated there.

“I’m over the moon with the response to the collection.

“The hospital staff said it was absolutely amazing. When we walked in with all these bags, their jaws dropped.”
