The A170 at Sutton Bank has been closed due to a spillage.
North Yorkshire Council issued a warning at about 3.15pm today to warn of the closure.
A spokesperson said: “Due to a spillage on the A170 #SuttonBank this afternoon the road has been closed to allow for a clean-up operation to take place.
“Please avoid the area if you’re travelling.”
