A suspected drink driver has been arrested on the A19 after a member of the public saw them swerving all over the road.
The driver of the Mercedes was spotted them on the A1(M) in North Yorkshire last night.
Road policing units were dispatched and the driver was stopped on the A19 near Thirsk.
They blew 110 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath at the roadside, meaning they were more than twice over the legal limit.
Sgt Paul Cording, from North Yorkshire Police’s road policing group, said he called the man who phoned in the erratic driving afterwards to thank them.
He added: “He may well have saved someone’s life tonight.
“If you suspect a drink driver then call it in and we will respond.”
