Sunlight reflecting on to curtains from a mirror is believed to have caused a house fire in a Hambleton village yesterday.
Firefighters from Richmond, Ripon, Northallerton and Harrogate’s Aerial Ladder Platform were called to the property in Skipton-on-Swale at 1.19pm.
The crews extinguished a fire in a first floor bathroom using two breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet.
The property was then ventilated and advice was given to on-site staff.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire was believed to be due to a mirror reflecting sunlight onto curtains that then ignited.
