Store funday raises more than £2,000 for air ambulance

A charity funday held at Sam Turner and Sons in Northallerton raised £2,253 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

More than 3,000 people attended Sammie’s Sunday Funday, which was held last month for the first time since 2019.

Jill Pattison, general manager, said: “Through challenges of great skill such as scoop a duck, ferret roulette, pigs in buckets and a test of strength, along with a prize draw, a grand total of £2253.07 was raised on the day.

“The returning event proved a great success with so many local organisations such as Adrian Wood Blacksmith, North Yorkshire Amusements, Bumpercarz, Elegant Marquees, Northdale, Rose & Kilt bar, Great Smeaton Young Farmers, Russell’s, Northallerton Rugby Club, Northallerton Town Junior Football Club, North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue, BASC and Skinners attending, along with trade and craft stands, a few farm animals, vintage tractors and some fantastic entertainment from Encore School of Dance, Mikey Dowson and Joe Blades Acoustic Duo, Eagle Ukes and Stu’s Magic Show.

“Charlie Turner expressed his thanks to all that attended the Sunday Funday and helped make it the huge success that it was.”

Jill said it would not have been possible without the efforts of the Sammie’s Funday organising team who she said all enjoyed a “well-deserved drink from the bar at the close”.
