Stolen vehicle injures two including child in Thirsk

A stolen vehicle was involved in a collision which left two people — including a child — suffering minor injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses and information about the incident which happened shortly after 7.30am on Saturday at the junction of Sutton Road and Hambleton Place.

It involved a black 2011 Renault Clio and a Vauxhall Corsa.

Police say the occupants of the Renault made off on foot from the scene into Hambleton Place and the vehicle was reported stolen later that day.

The occupants of the Vauxhall Corsa, an adult and a child, both sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene by paramedics.

The stretch of road was closed for a short time while officers investigated the scene and to allow the vehicles to be recovered.

A police spokesperson said: “We are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who recalls seeing the vehicles prior to the collision, particularly the Renault Clio, to get in touch as soon as possible to assist the investigation.

“In particular, we are appealing to residents of Hambleton Place, Hambleton Avenue and the surrounding streets to check their CCTV and doorbell cameras for any footage of potential offenders making off from the scene.”
