Two staff members have tested positive for Covid-19 at Stokesley Leisure Centre.

Bosses of the centre in Great Broughton Road, which is run by Hambleton District Council, say the staff members are now isolating.

A risk assessment has been carried out and it has been decided the facility is safe to remain open, they added.

Steven Lister, Hambleton District Council’s director of leisure and communities, said “I can confirm two members of staff at Stokesley Leisure Centre have this week tested positive for Coronavirus – they are now isolating in line with government advice.

“As a result, a risk assessment has been carried out at the centre and we are satisfied it is safe to remain open at this time.

“We have strict cleaning processes and social distancing procedures in place to ensure we can offer a COVID safe experience in all our leisure centres.”

Mr Lister said that with cases on the rise both nationally and locally, it was only a matter of time before the council started started to cases in our facilities.

He added: “We have strict policies and procedures in place to ensure we can continue to provide essential services – including leisure services – throughout this time.

“We will continue to take all the steps we can to keep all our facilities as COVID safe as possible.”
