Detective Constable Dave Hunton, who is investigating, said: “I’d urge residents to remain vigilant and it’s always good to review your home security regularly.
“If you’re not in your property, leave a light on and consider using timers and asking your neighbours to check your property from time to time.”
He also recommended taking photos of jewellery and other expensive items, which can help the police recover them if the worst happens.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward or anyone who recalls any suspicious activity in the Orchard Grove area of Brompton.
They are also asking people to come forward if they have seen these items or know where they are.
