Volunteer rescuers came to the aid of a woman who had suffered a leg injury while out running.
Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team (CMRT) was called by the police at lunchtime on Saturday after a woman sustained a painful left knee injury while out running with her sister a few miles east of Osmotherley, near Square Corner.
The casualty had starting to get cold and had attempted to keep warm by slowly making her way towards the nearest road, to be collected by another family member.
A CMRT spokesperson said: “Having then been contacted by phone by a team member she was advised to shelter, keep as warm as possible but to maintain her location to avoid further damage to her knee.
“Her location was verified using the mountain rescue phone find system and our members were then directed to the two runners.
“Once assessed, the casualty was provided with some warm clothing and pain relief medication, wrapped in a casualty bag containing a warming pad and then transported on a wheeled rescue stretcher to one of our Land Rovers.
While travelling back the team’s Land Rover crews came across a road traffic accident in Great Ayton and stopped to enable team members to provide casualty care until the arrival of ambulance service personell and North Yorkshire Police.
