Rishi Sunak saw Christmas celebrations get underway in his constituency with visits to festive events in Bedale and Morton-on-Swale.
The Richmond MP and his wife Akshata called in to the Bedale Christmas Festival held in and around Bedale Hall.
They visited many of the festive gift stalls in the hall and adjacent marquee along with the local food and drink stalls on the North End cobbles.
Mr and Mrs Sunak also judged the children’s Christmas card competition, selecting Belle’s Snowman in the pre-school category and Erik’s Christmas tree in the Key Stage 1 group as the winners.
Mr Sunak said: “This was a fantastic, well-organised event with something for everyone. Congratulations to all who helped to make it happen and provide a truly wonderful festive event.”
Sally Williams, who organised the event on behalf of the Bedale and Villages Community Forum, said Mr and Mrs Sunak’s attendance was a boost for all involved.
She said: “It was a lovely surprise. We are grateful that they took time out of their day to come. Everyone was thrilled to see them.”
Mr and Mrs Sunak also visited a Christmas Craft Fair in Morton on Swale, near Northallerton, where they spoke to visitors and stallholders.
