Kiplin Hall’s head gardener has identified some rare snowdrops in Kiplin Hall gardens this week.
The specimen is called Galanthus Wendy’s Gold and, after scanning the ground for a fortnight, Chris Baker was excited to find the flowers growing at Kiplin, between Richmond and Northallerton.
Kiplin Hall gardens and tea room opened for the 2019 season at the beginning of the month.
Chris Baker said: “This cold snap means the delightful floral tapestry should last for a number of weeks. There’s no snow to hide them, it really is the best display for our visitors in years.”
Brenda Lynch, accompanied by her mother, Marjorie Atkinson, both from Darlington, said: “I visited last week, and the snowdrops looked so beautiful that I’ve returned with my mother today.
There are three Snowdrop Trails exploring different areas of Kiplin’s 400-year-old estate.
The trails take between 20 and 45 minutes to walk.
Visitors are reminded to bring their cameras and wellies, as the routes are sticky, and uneven underfoot in places. Trail maps can be collected upon arrival from the Admission’s Desk inside the Hall.
