A quad bike and other equipment have been stolen following two farm burglaries in North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for information following a theft from the village of Low Worsall, situated between Stokesley and Yarm.

At some point over Friday night, December 7 and the early hours of Saturday, December 8, thieves entered outbuildings belonging to the farm just off Back Lane and took the vehicle. A further burglary took place on the same night, from a farm in nearby High Worsall off Church Lane.

If anyone has any information about this crime, or any suspicious behaviour in the area, they should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, quoting incident number; 118 of the 8th December 2018.

It is the latest in a string of thefts of vehicles and equipment from farm outbuildings in the Stokesley and Northallerton area in recent weeks.

They include; a chainsaw stolen from a farm in nearby Carlton-in-Cleveland, farm vehicles stolen from Easby and Carlton-in-Cleveland and 2,500 eggs stolen from a barn in Great Ayton on November 20.

Last month, Stokesley Police stepped up high visibility patrols following thefts from farms and other properties in the area. They also urged people to fit British Standard deadlocks to all outside doors on outbuildings and reinforce them with strong bolts.

Officers also advised people to photograph possessions and mark tools and other items with a UV pen. North Yorkshire Police can also mark property with a Dot Peen security device.
