A number of pupils have been told to isolate following a positive Covid-19 case at Bedale High School.
School staff informed parents of pupils who had been in contact with the student on Sunday evening.
Those who have not been contact should attend school as normal, staff say.
Head Tom Kelley said on the school’s Facebook page on Sunday: “Please be aware that we have had our first positive Covid-19 case this evening.
“We have now contacted all the parents of students who have been identified as contacts, and these students will now be self-isolating.
“If you have not been contacted this evening by staff from school, then your child can come into school as normal tomorrow.”
The head thanked parents for their understanding and support.
He added: “Please try not to worry – every other school I have been in touch with have already had cases this term so we have been very lucky to get through 6 weeks without one.”
The school will write to all parents today.
Parents of contacts who are self-isolating will receive a different letter tomorrow confirming when the period of self-isolation ends.
