Local people are being asked for their views on a potential piece of artwork to commemorate the visit of the UCI world cycling championships to Northallerton last month.

Hambleton District Council wants to know how residents would like to mark the visit – and whether a piece of artwork would be appreciated.

It is conducting an on line survey to find out people’s views on an art installation,  where this would be located, what form it may take and how it can be delivered.

“The visit of the cycling championships was a major event for Northallerton and we want to mark it in a permanent way with a piece of artwork,” said Councillor Mrs Bridget Fortune, portfolio holder for leisure.

“But we want to know what local people want – and where they would like to see it before we begin the commissioning process.”

The closing date is October 25.
