An exhibition charting the history of Northallerton’s former prison has re-opened in the town’s library.
Hambleton District Council has installed panels detailing how the prison in the centre of Northallerton has changed through its 270 year history.
The exhibition was first seen at the library in October last year.
The council bought the jail three years ago and will develop it in partnership with Wykeland of Hull as part of the Central Northallerton Development Company Ltd
Planning permission for the site has been approved for retail, business use, restaurants, cinema and a public open space.
Work on phase one will start this summer – which includes outlets for retailers Lidl and Iceland.
Library opening times are available on www.northyorks.gov.u/northallertonlibrary
