The Prime Minister’s has been in the district visiting local businesses ahead of the General Election on Thursday.
Akshata Murty first visited Kidz Day Nursery & Pre-School at Catterick Garrison.
The centre opened in January this year.
It is the fourth nursery that Julie and Bill Whitbread have opened with the others in Middleham, Hutton Rugby and Ingleton.
Akshata also visited Mainsgill Farmshop. While there Akshata met with the family, staff and many of their animals that are on site.
She also met with local supporters to canvass in Leyburn, Middleham and Aldbrough St John.
Akshata said: “Family means everything to me. To visit Kidz Nursery and see how both local and military families benefit from such a nurturing environment was very special.
“I also loved visiting a family business at Mainsgill Farmshop, founded and run by Andrew and Maria Henshaw and their children, Jack and Rachel. A thriving local success story in diversification and creating opportunities for so many young people.”
Andrew Henshaw, owner of Mainsgill Farm, added: “We have run our family business since 2001 and it has been a pleasure welcoming Akshata here today, and Rishi previously.
“We really believe in growing and buying local, which is what you get at Mainsgill. It’s always a treat to get to show how well our apprentices are doing as well.”
