A new primary school planned for the Sowerby Gateway development is set to open later this year using temporary classrooms.
A planning application has been submitted for two portable classrooms to be erected at the site of the proposed Keeble Gateway Academy.
Car parking, landscaping and secure fencing would also be built on land off Topcliffe Road and Gravel Hole Lane, Sowerby, Thirsk.
Developers say the scheme would allow the planned school to open in September 2019 for nursery and reception pupils.
They would be in place until September 2020 when it is hoped the new school would be completed.
Documents submitted with the plans to Hambleton District Council state: “The application proposal would facilitate an early year opening of the proposed primary school earmarked for the site under the approved masterplan for the wider Sowerby Gateway development.
“The principle and need for the school has already been established under the original outline planning permission and the proposed provision of the two portable teaching blocks on the site would have the considerable benefit of enabling an initial reception year and nursery intake in September 2019.”
