Wednesday afternoon’s racing at Thirsk will see seven races taking place as part of the busy summer flat racing schedule in North Yorkshire.
Following plenty of rain so far in July this year, the going for the afternoon’s races will be good to soft, as the action gets underway at 1:52pm, running until 4:55pm. With the gates opening to fans at 11am, it will be an exciting afternoon of action for fans of Flat racing to enjoy.

13:52: British EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes
The opener sees nine runners take to the turf, with the 6f race being comprised of two-year-olds. Ann Terry is the leading contender having made a third placed debut on good to soft ground at Ayr 10 days ago.
14:22: Best Price Guaranteed Daily At Vickers.Bet Handicap
Next up, a longer race for some more seasoned campaigners, with four-year-olds competing in the Class 5 Best Price Guaranteed Daily At Vickers.Bet Handicap. Alongside Rogue Tornado, Genesius will present a strong challenge after C&D success last summer and consistent form since.
14:52: JW 4×4 Northallerton Handicap
Among the three-year-olds who will compete in this Class 5 contest, Ingleby Archie has received a reasonable 3lb rise in weight after winning at Redcar 26 days ago. Alternatively, Scoops Ahoy has run well on recent outings and a win at Redcar on soft ground in May adds appeal to this outing.
15:22 – Army Benevolent Fund EBF Novice Stakes (GBB Race)
For this 7f short-track race, ten runners will hope to win a top prize of £3,780. Tom Marquand’s ride on Germanic for William Haggas is the eye-catching name in the race, but a seven length win from Bobby Bennu at Chester 18 days ago will draw some attention.
15:52 – Download The Vickers.Bet App Handicap
With an open field for this 12 runner handicap, there is plenty of scope for value in the market. Despite not having won since last April, On A Session has dropped back to a very attractive mark and softer ground than usual for this time of year should suit the four-year-old.
16:22 – Nicky Warren’s 53rd Happy Birthday Handicap
For this Class 4 handicap, 12 runners are expected to compete for the £5,234 prize on offer to the winner. In what is expected to be a wide open contest, the form of Dazy Mazy looks favourable after two wins from three recent outings, with the only drawback being a 2lb rise in weight.
16:55 – David Lever Memorial Handicap
To finish, a 6f Class Six handicap sprint will put some experienced campaigners through their paces. Yazaman has recorded a hat-trick of wins since May and the only drawback is the handicapper taking note of strong recent form to raise the Paul Midgeley trainer six-year-old’s mark.
