Popular Northallerton footpath to be resurfaced

Thirsk Road, Northallerton.

The footpath on Thirsk Road in Northallerton will be resurfaced next week.

North Yorkshire County Council’s highways team will begin the work on Tuesday, November 16, lasting for four days.

It will take place between 9.30am and 3.30pm under a footpath closure and three way traffic lights.

Councillor David Blades, local member for the Romanby and Broomfield division, said: “Thirsk Road is a vital link for anybody walking to the town centre as well as a popular route for residents.

“The footpath surface has deteriorated over the last few years so I’m pleased we are delivering a full resurfacing before the winter weather takes hold.

“We appreciate the work may cause a level of disruption for both road users and pedestrians but we ask for your patience while the resurfacing is taking place.”

Advance warning signs will be in place and on-site personnel will manage access to properties and businesses within the closure.

Officials say that due to the nature of the works there may be times when access is not possible.
