Police have issued an appeal after suspected poachers left without their dogs following an incident at Kirby Sigston, near Northallerton.
Officers want information to identity of a group of men seen on land in the area on Thursday night and any vehicles they may be linked to.
Two lurcher-type dogs were found in the area and taken into police possession.
A police spokesperson said: “We urgently need information to identify the owners of these dogs.
“If they are your dogs, we want to hear from you before we have to treat them as abandoned and they are re-homed.”
