Police are appealing for information and urging people to be vigilant about a car linked to fuel theft.
A silver Honda has been connected to recent offences of making off without payment from garages in and around the Stokesley and Great Ayton areas.
It is believed to be using doctored plates, beginning with NY57, and may have a large drum in the back to take on extra fuel.
Police say it may be travelling from and returning to the Middlesbrough area.
