Police hunt scammer after Hutton Rudby incident

Police are appealing for information after a man conned a Hutton Rudby resident out of cash.

On Wednesday, February 20 a man approached a homeowner and claimed to work for Broadacres Housing Association before scamming the resident into paying him for some work he never completed.

He has been described as 30 to 40 years old, medium build, 5ft 8in, with a local accent.

He was wearing a red zip up jacket and driving a blue, car style van.

This occurred in a residential street in Hutton Rudby during the daytime.

If anyone has information of this crime or been approached by this male please report to the police immediately on 101 quoting incident number 66 of February 27.

A police spokesperson said: “We advise that you always ask for ID and call the office if you are approached by an organisation to confirm.”
