Police are appealing for residents to check CCTV footage after a house was burgled and there was another attempted break-in in Bedale.
The incidents happened in Fitzalan Road and Mowbbray Crescent on Saturday night or early on Sunday morning.
The properties’ rear gardens back on to each other.
A full list of items stolen is not available yet but police believe jewellery was taken, including several items of sentimental value.

Entry was gained by smashing the rear door glass panel then using the key to open the door.
A police spokesperson said: “Please remain vigilant and report suspicious activity/vehicle to us as soon as possible.”
