Pickhill bin fire spreads to car and house

A fire in a bin spread to a nearby car and house at the weekend.

Firefighters from Bedale, Thirsk and Boroughbridge were called to Pickhill, near Northallerton, at about 1pm on Saturday.

Crews found the fire to have started in a wheelie bin when hot coals were put inside.

This then spread to a car, and to guttering and the eaves of a property.

Crews extinguished the fire using two hose reel jets, two breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera, spreaders and a hooligan tool.

The cause of this fire was accidental.
