The public is being invited to visit Kiplin Hall this December to check the progress of a National Lottery Heritage Fund project that has been underway at the historic house.
The Interpreting Kiplin for 400 Project has created opportunities for community groups to help curate new displays in the museum and gardens near Scorton.
Ahead of their unveiling in February 2025, when the venue celebrates its 400th anniversary, the public is invited to visit Kiplin this December to see progress on the project and provide feedback.
Project officer Naomi Peach said: “This stage of the project is very exciting. We’ve worked with the community over the last 18 months to create new displays inside the museum, and in the gardens and grounds.
“We’ve worked hard to better tell the origin story of Kiplin Hall and the Calvert family, dating back to the 1620s, including those who journeyed to colonies abroad.
“As well as the people who lived and worked at Kiplin during the ownership of the Crowes, Carpenters and Talbots in the following centuries.
“Being able to show the public these new displays, and hear what they think, brings the project towards its completion ahead of our anniversary year in 2025.”
Those wishing to visit Kiplin Hall and Gardens for free can do so on Friday 13th, Saturday 14th, and Sunday 15th December.
Visitors will be asked to complete a feedback form during their visit, this will take around five minutes.
Visits can be booked online at www.kiplinhall.co.uk.
During these events the tea room will be closed as catering facilities are being moved to a new visitor centre and café ready for next year.
A food vendor will be on-site selling hot snacks, and visitors are welcome to bring picnics.
Organisers say the events are not festive or Christmas-themed but do offer an opportunity to visit Kiplin Hall and Gardens during the winter season.
The Interpreting Kiplin for 400 project is made possible with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to National Lottery players.
