North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is looking for on-call firefighters to serve across the Richmondshire area.

The service has on-call fire stations located at Bedale, Easingwold, Northallerton, Stokesley and Thirsk.

Each station is crewed by on-call fire fighters who live and or work within these areas.

Craig Austin, from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said an on-call firefighter was a person over the age of 18, who provides fire and emergency cover within their local community.

“They attend the same type of incidents and training as a full time firefighter, but work on a retaining fee on-call basis with pay enhancements for differing activities attended.

“We are especially looking for people who can provide cover during weekday day time hours.

“On average, an on-call firefighter can earn around £5,000 per year, depending on the number of incidents and training sessions they attend.”
