Hambleton’s official Tour de Yorkshire flag has been raised at the Civic Centre in Northallerton.
District council leader, Councillor Mark Robson, took delivery of the flag from Welcome to Yorkshire on Friday – the blue and yellow flag celebrates Bedale being one of the host towns for the 2019 race.
A replica flag will be raised at Bedale Hall in the next week.
The town is one of the eight hosts for the race – welcoming the stage two finishes to the ladies and men’s races on Friday May 3.
“This is a massive coup for Hambleton – which is fast becoming known as a major cycling hub,” said Cllr Robson.
“The Tour de Yorkshire brings in people from across the UK and Europe and we intend to make sure the area stands out this May.
“We will be giving both the riders and our visitors a day to remember.”
The race takes place over four days from May 2 – 5 with Bedale joined by Barnsley, Bridlington, Doncaster, Halifax, Leeds, Scarborough and Selby as host towns.
