Northallerton Tourist Information Centre gets revamp

Cllr Wilkinson is pictured watching David Cundell, Chair of Northallerton TIC putting one of the new bollard covers in place.

A centre which provides information to both visitors and residents has been spruced up ready for the 2020 tourist season.

Northallerton TIC has improved the display of literature inside the building which is based in the Applegarth Car Park with the help of a grant from Hambleton District Council’s Vibrant Market Town budget.

New signage has also been added to the exterior of the building along with brightly-coloured bollard covers.

The centre receives over 5,000 enquiries per year – 70 per cent from tourists and 30 per cent from residents and therefore needs to look its best and have well stocked attractive displays.

Councillor Peter Wilkinson, deputy leader of Hambleton District Council and portfolio holder for economic development, said: “It’s great to see the Vibrant Market Towns Team supporting projects that will bring more visitors to our market towns.”

The TIC is currently open Wednesdays and Saturdays, 10am to 1pm, throughout the winter months and hopefully from March 23 will revert to its summer opening times: Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm and Saturday 10am to 1pm.
