Northallerton shoppers to benefit from acts of kindness to celebrate easing of restrictions

Northallerton High Street.

Shoppers in Northallerton could be on the receiving end of random act of kindness if they visit the town on Monday.

The Love Northallerton team will be repeating their Magic Monday promotion by paying for free coffees, beers and snacks to support cafes, pubs, hotels and restaurants as they open indoors for the first time this year.

As a bonus, shoppers will be given free Love Northallerton shopping bags to say thanks for supporting the town’s businesses.

“Hospitality has been particularly hard hit by the pandemic and we want to give cafes, pubs, hotels and restaurants our maximum support on their big reopening day,” says Northallerton BID manager Graham Bell.

“We had a fantastic reaction to our first Magic Monday on April 12 when we celebrated the return of non-essential retail.

“People were genuinely thrilled when we offered to pay for their snacks and shopping.

“It sends out a very positive signal about Northallerton as a great place to shop and visit.”

The Love Northallerton events and video team will be out visiting BID businesses from 11am, so shoppers are advised not to miss them.

To coincide with the next stage on the Government roadmap, the BID’s powerful We Are Northallerton advert will be broadcast on TV for the first time.

The 30-second clip demonstrates the resilience and determination of local businesses to emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever.

It’s already a social media sensation, with 14,000 views so far.
