East Road and Crosby Road in Northallerton are to close for five days for resurfacing work as part of the town centre development project.
North Yorkshire County Council’s highways team is undertaking the work on behalf of Hambleton District Council under a full road closure from Monday, March 15, for five consecutive days between 6pm and 11pm.
The scheme is being delivered as part of Hambleton District Council’s ‘Connections Project’ which is seeing Northallerton High Street and its connectivity to the new Treadmills scheme improved.
The project is being part funded by the York and North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership.
Councillor Caroline Dickinson, county councillor for the Northallerton division and district councillor for Northallerton South, said: “This resurfacing work will go a great length in ensuring these two busy roads in Northallerton are fit for the increasing traffic demands.
“The scheme is part of an extensive programme of improvements in the town.
“Resurfacing is weather dependant so we will keep the public updated of any changes to the schedule.
“The work is being carried out on a night to alleviate disruption for residents and businesses as much as possible.
“I would like to thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation during the essential scheme.”
Vehicle access will be restricted as well as on-street parking.
“Residents are being asked to find alternative locations to park their vehicles on the affected streets.
Advance warning signs will be in place and there will be a signed diversion during the road closure periods.
Those requiring access to properties and businesses will be assisted but there may be times when this is not possible due to the nature and constraints of the site.
Pedestrians and emergency vehicles will be permitted at all times.
Operatives working on site will be observing all Government guidelines on safe social distancing.
