A Northallerton pub is still set to reopen as a Wetherspoons, company bosses say.
Refurbishment work on the Buck Inn stated in March, but stepp soon afterwards due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
It has been claimed on social media that the reopening by the pub chain had been cancelled.
But a spokesman for Wetherspoons said the project would still take place.
They said: “It will go ahead, but at present there are no firm dates as Wetherspoon has stopped all new developments for the time being due to covid.”
The refurbishment was due to take five months and the pub was set to reopen this month.
The late Victorian pub will remain largely the same on the outside, though will use its original coaching inn entrance.
A larger area for customers, using the old stable block, was planned.
The rooms at the front of the pub were due to be preserved, leading to the new bar customer area and open kitchen.
The company was granted a licence for the premises in January and will have permission to open from 7am to 12.30am from Sunday to Wednesday and from 7am to 1.30am from Thursday to Saturday.
