A Northallerton man has been jailed for harassing a woman by sending her unwanted emails.
Edward Silmon-Monerri, 37, of Moor View Road, appeared before magistrates in York last week.
The defendant had pleaded not guilty to a charge of pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to harassment.
The court heard he had sent a woman a number of unwanted emails between October 25 and December 18 last year.
He was found guilty after a trial at an earlier hearing and was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison on Thursday.
He was issued with a restraining order preventing him from having any contact with the victim.
Silmon-Monerri was also told to pay a victim surcharge of £122.
