Northallerton man in court over designer goods thefts

A Northallerton man has appeared in court charged with stealing designer goods from a department store.

David Norman Nicholson, 40, from the town’s Prospect View, appeared before magistrates in York yesterday.

He admitted stealing two Ralph Lauren jackets worth £700 on June last year and a Ralph Lauren purse and cross body bag worth £428 on August 1, 2022.

The thefts took place at Barkers in Northallerton.

The defendant was issued with a community order which banned him from the department store for a year.

He must also do up to 20 days of rehabilitation activities.

Nicholson was ordered to pay £600 in compensation, which would be deducted from his benefits.
