Up to 30 jobs are set to be created when the Friarage Hospital’s new £35.5million surgical centre opens its doors next year.
With work on the new facility at the Northallerton hospital well underway – including plans for six main operating theatres, two minor operating theatres and a surgical admission and day hub – there has never been a more exciting time to join the Friarage team.
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will be recruiting for a wide range of roles including operating department practitioners, scrub and theatre nurses, healthcare assistants, anaesthetists, surgical ward nurses, medical ward nurses, radiographers, physiotherapists, domestics, sterile services assistants and pharmacists.
Potential future employees are invited to find out more at a recruitment event at The Forum in Northallerton on Friday 14 June from 2pm to 4pm.
While the event is hosted by the Friarage theatre team, there will also be recruitment stands from a range of services across the hospital and the Hambleton and Richmondshire healthcare community including Gara Ward, allied health professions and volunteers.
Anyone with an interest in working in healthcare is encouraged to attend, whether they are newly qualified, relocating to the area or returning to practice.
Sarah Baker, head of clinical services, peri-operative medicine, theatres and critical care medicine said: “This is your chance to meet the team, ask questions and find out which roles could be right for you.
“The theatre management team are all clinical by background and we would welcome the chance to show you around and give you a look at where we are going in the future with this fantastic hospital.”
The Friarage is a nationally recognised NHS surgical hub which achieves consistently positive results for patients with shorter waiting times for many common surgical procedures and uses the latest in consultant-led robotic technology.
It’s reputation for excellence attracts consultants who are leaders in their fields including orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, ophthalmology, pain management, plastic surgery, spinal surgery, urology and ear nose and throat.
The new surgical centre is set to open in April 2025 and will enable the Friarage to almost double the number of planned operations it carries out each year from just over 5,000 to almost 10,000.
