A new arts festival will be held in Northallerton this summer.
The Artists’ Way will arrange for local artists and makers to show their work in shops in the high street.
Organisers say many of the shops the town centre are giving display space for arts and crafts.
The organisers are planning for a wide variety of creative work from paintings and photography to pottery and ceramics, and more unusual work from felt artists, silversmiths, fabric artists, printers and jewellery makers.
Applications are now being invited from artists and makers of all creative mediums.
The best will be chosen to display their work.
A map showing participating shops and their artist will accompany the festival, which will be held on and around Sunday, June 21.
In addition there will be street entertainers including dancers, a choir, a drummer and a story teller.
One of the organisers, Bill Oakey, said: ”There is a wide base of very high quality creative talent in the region but very few artistic outlets in Northallerton.
“We live in an expanding town and it is now accepted that where the arts go, commerce follows.
“But The Artists’ Way is intended to be a relaxing day to celebrate creativity, and be fun for all.”
An application form is on their website www.theartistsway.co.uk and for more information see Facebook or Instagram @theartistswaynorthallerton
