A new air rifle range is now operational at Northallerton Squadron ATC after being 18 months in storage due to the pandemic.
The squadron took delivery of six new air rifles and range in March 2020, but they were not used due to covid.
Finally, after 18 months the first pellets have now been fired.
Currently 25 of the squadron’s 32 registered cadets have achieved their ‘trained shot’ blue badge, the first award in the RAF Air Cadets progressive training syllabus.
Three have achieved ‘marksman’ status.
Flying Officer Donnelly, the squadron’s range conducting officer, said: “I am really pleased to be able to get air rifle shooting up and running for the first time ever at 2337 squadron.
“For us it marks the beginning of a new era of training and development as a squadron and I look forward to being able to award even more badges to cadets both on squadron and across the wing.”
